Delicious 1 minute Keto Chocolate Mug Cake

I am so pleased that my son has finally agreed to bake! This 1 minute Keto Chocolate Mug Cake is the first recipe he attempted. He loves it and has been making quite often during this MCO.

Blame it to the movement restriction, we have more keto treats than usual and this easy to make mini keto cake comes quite handy. No baking skills or techniques required. Just put everything together, whisk and heat it up in the microwave. Beep, beep, a delicious keto chocolate cake is done in 1 minute!

Here's how you do it:


1 tablespoon butter (melted)

2 tablespoons almond flour

1 teaspoon unsweetened dark chocolate powder

1/2 baking powder

1-2 teaspoons Lakanto Classic sweetener (or 1-2 sachets)

1 teaspoon MCT powder (optional)

1 egg


  1. Put butter in a 150ml coffee mug. Set aside for it to melt or simply heat it in the microwave oven for not longer than 30 seconds.

  2. Add in almond flour, baking powder, unsweetened dark chocolate powder, Lakanto Classi sweetener and MCT powder (optional). Stir to blend.

  3. Lastly, add in 1 egg and whisk until well incorporated.

  4. Clean the edge of the mug with a paper towel.

  5. Add toppings as prefer.

  6. Place the mug into microwave for 1 minute in a 1200 watts microwave oven or 90 seconds for a 800 watts.

  7. Use a fine strainer to add some Lakanto Powdered at the top.


While Lakanto Classic is widely used amongst ketoers in Malaysia, a powdered formulation called Lakanto Powdered was introduced a few months ago. I was given the privilege to put this formulation to test a year ago and has been very fond of it. It is now my go-to sweetener for keto frosting, glaze, toppings and custard. If you want to give it a go, this is where you can get it!
