Updated: Sep 20, 2020

I get these questions about ketone meter quite often and decided to write them in a FAQ format.

WHEN DO YOU CHECK YOUR KETONE LEVELS?

If you're new to keto diet and not sure if you're entering ketosis.

If you often eat-out and want to know if the food you had just eaten will spike your glucose index and kick you out of ketosis.

When you weight loss stall.

When you're switching to maintenance mode with higher ratio of protein or carbs intake but still want to stay in ketosis.

When you're adapting keto diet for diabetic reversal.

WHY MOST KETO EXPERTS PREFER BLOOD METERS?

The blood meter measures the level of ketones in your blood, which is a more direct form of measurement.

It gives you an accurate, definitive results with in-depth tracking capabilities.

WHY SHOULD I GET A CARESENS DUAL METER?

1. TEST BOTH KETONES AND BLOOD SUGAR LEVELS

To test your ketones level, insert the ketone test strip into the meter’s port. A ketone mode indicator will appeared on the screen. Use an alcohol swab to clean the pad of your finger. Insert the lancet into the lancing device and twist to pull off the protective tip of the needle. Choose a depth setting, place it at the pad of the finger, press the button to prick. Place a small drop of blood onto the test strips and the meter will show your results in 8 seconds. As the ketone strip is highly sensitive and specific for accuracy assurance, you may have to perform the test at a cooler room temperature.

To test your blood glucose level, place the blood glucose test strip into the meter’s slot and proceed with the same steps as above. The meter will show your results in 5 seconds. This video provides a more comprehensive guide to using the meter:

2. STORES 1000 TEST RESULTS

Your results are saved on the meter and can easily be accessed at any time, with a memory storage of of 1,000 results.
